The Chorus is the people of Thebes. They play the role of talking to Oedipus about the issues of their town. They ignore the truth because they don't believe that their king can do wrong. They feel strongly about him and feel as if he is their savior because he defeated the sphinx. Throughout the story, they never doubt Oedipus, but towards the end, they see the horror he brought upon them.
